I designed and built my own Star Wars Jedi costume. I designed and built the cape, hood, greaves, and belt. The shirt, undershirt, pants and boots were sourced and purchased by me.
The hood was based on a pattern I bought, but had to quickly stray from the original design. I sewed it all myself, sometimes creating patterns for parts I needed, including the cape. I added a 3D printed clip at the front to keep the two sides connected.
I began with a template I designed in paper, and cut it out in leather. I then added clips, molded the leather into the right shape and dyed the leather. Finally I riveted into place 3D printed accents I had heated to the correct curvature and painted a metalic silver.
I cut a strip of leather, burnished the edges, and attatched it to a belt clip. On top of that clip I attatched a 3D Printed emblem, the same as the one on the hood.
This was where my idea for the costume started. My vision changed over time, however, stuck close to the original concept. The shirt, belt, and greaves all traveled to the final design with only slight alterations.
