Hazards
Mild irritant: AdBlue can irritate skin and eyes on contact. Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause dryness or cracking of the skin.
Slippery: Spilled AdBlue can create a slippery surface, increasing the risk of falls.
Control Measures
Engineering Controls: Ensure adequate ventilation in areas where AdBlue is handled to prevent the buildup of ammonia, which can be released from AdBlue decomposition.
Work Practices: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after handling AdBlue. Do not eat, drink, or smoke in areas where AdBlue is handled. Clean up spills promptly to prevent slips.
Personal Protective Equipment
Eye Protection: Safety glasses with side shields or chemical splash goggles are recommended to prevent eye contact.
Hand Protection: Wear gloves made of a material impervious to AdBlue, such as nitrile rubber or PVC.
Clothing: Wear coveralls or other protective clothing to minimize skin exposure in case of splashing.
Spill Response
Follow process set out in the Spill Response Procedure.
Look up specific details in the Safety Data Sheet for the spilled material.
