Why We Need To Protect The Ocean
We should fund more ocean exploration because improved ocean resource management is essential to preserving the security of the world's food supply. We should protect the ocean because it is vital to the world's economy, with more than 90% of trade using sea routes and as a source of jobs for millions of people (OECD). The ocean is a lifeline for billions of people which is why we should fund it more and protect it.

Why We Should Participate in Ocean Funding
We should participate in ocean funding due to bold new ocean-based solutions that may be ushered in with increased U.S. funding, partnerships, and capacity for managing ocean data (Trice). This is a great example of why we should all participate in ocean funding. New data and data systems will empower natural resource managers, federal agencies, and local communities to make informed decisions with the best available science. We must take action right away to lessen environmental dangers to the ocean and regulate the ocean's contribution to climate change (Trice). This shows that funding for the ocean will benefit society in many ways.

The Ocean Foundation
The ocean foundation is funded by individuals, family, corporate foundations, corporations, and government agencies. Also these donors are not only U.S. based but also internationally based. Funding for the ocean is extremely important because the ocean is what keeps humans alive due to the ocean regulating climate and reducing climate change impacts.
