The Clarion

1919 - 1920

The Clarion was a Coloured newspaper backed by white South African National Party against A.P.O. It was one of the few Coloured publications to seek a national readership. The Clarion became the ‘publication which was well-written and circulated throughout the length and breadth of South Africa, was the means of bringing the Pact Government (Nationalists and Labour) into power’ (Couzen, 1975).
