Izwi Lama Afrika was a Xhosa newspaper coming from East London. The Newspaper delivered 'moderate' African opinions and local issues such as protests, taxation for Africans and supported the fight minimum wage. It supported inter-racial pressure groups and made a declaration to "endeavour to do away with radicalism which is the bane of this country" (Switzer, 2000: 102).
