Flight. The very thought of flight is astonishing, and flying is what I plan to do. My name is Connor A. Stritzel I plan on joining the U.S. Navy, and hope to fly for them. Flying is something that I've wanted to do ever since I learned what planes are. The Navy is the Branch that I plan on going to because they have the jet that I want to fly for a living, the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. The idea of flying that of an Aircraft carrier going from a stand still on the deck, to 160 mph in just under 3 seconds is what I find as a good way to start a day. It is an excellent feat of engineering and innovation.
My freshman year I took NJROTC to help me in the future when I go to Join the Navy. I've completed Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry in hopes to help with college. I am in an engineering program hosted by the Dr. James Forrest Career and Technology Center with the hope to do good enough to possibly land an Aerospace Engineering college degree at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach Florida. In preparation for the ASVAB I have learned many different math and writing techniques in hopes that they will help me with getting a high enough score on the ASVAB.
Outside of school I was part of the Civil Air Patrol for about a year. While part of CAP I learned valuable team building and leadership skills. I am also part of the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department Station 3 and have completed both Fire Fighter 1 and Fire Fighter 2 through Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute. Being part of the Fire Department helps build better physical traits and helps me strengthen my leadership and team skills while maintaining a good working environment. I have not been employed yet but hope to acquire a job before the end of my High school life. This way I may start saving money for college and other things that the future has to offer.
After I achieve my career goal, I believe I will be able to help make my community better and safer for the people it holds. When I'm done and retire I may continue to volunteer at a local Fire department and continue to give back to the community. Hopefully I will have made a positive impact with my career by making the world safer.
