Reverse Engineering - the reproduction of another manufacturer's product following detailed examination of its construction or composition.
Fun fact about the image above, that is an image of a Soviet Tu-4. The Tu-4 is an exact replica of the American B-29 Super Fortress. The Soviet Union managed to get their hands on a B-29 and took it apart piece by piece, reverse engineering it, so they could make the B-29 themselves since the United States would not give them one. The Tu-4 is a perfect example as to what reverse engineering is all about, taking a complete product apart to figure out how its made and how it works, then making it yourself the same way the origonal is made or simular but with changes of your own.

AoHP Medical Dummy Neck
AoHP Medical Dummy Neck
At the Tech Center, there are many courses, one of which being Academy of Health Professions (AoHP). One of there medical dummy's neck piece broke so they brought it down to the Engineering room to see if we could fix it. I had nothing else to do so i took up the mission of Fixing Jimmy. Jimmy is the name I gave to the medical dummy.
To start, I took Jimmy's existing neck and began making measurements of it with a dial caliper so I could have the relative dimensions when I went to go design him a new neck in Solid Works.
This is what the neck looked like in Solid Works, it was made using the measurements that I wrote down on the index card shown above.
The following images are what Jimmy's old neck and its new neck look like. The new neck was printed on a 3D printer with a blue flexible filament. I believe that Jimmy's old neck was created by injection molding.
