Mehrez got a Master’s in Quantum Physics at the University of Tunis El Manar. In his Master's research project, he used Density Functional Theory (DFT) to model Transition Metal Dichalcogenide (TMD) materials as they undergo the transition from bulk to 2D structures and then study their electronic and optical properties. He was also involved in experimental work, synthesizing and characterizing these materials, and exploring their use in triboelectric nanogenerators.
Mehrez enjoys exploring a wide range of advanced computational methods such as molecular dynamics, monte carlo simulations, and machine learning to model soft and hard condensed matter systems, understanding the physics behind them, solving challenges, and making them accessible for various applications.
Mehrez current research is focused on Cellulose Nanocrystal-Stabilized Pickering Emulsions using atomistic and coarse-grained methods.
