To monitor the performance of a Windows operating system, the Performance Monitor utility provides important performance data. To use Performance Monitor, use the following instructions:
On the Windows search, type "performance monitor".
To get real-time data on the system, click on Performance Monitor.
To create a baseline (data set), click on Data Collector Sets > User Defined.
Then, right-click on the User Defined > New > Data Collector Set.
Set a name and Add Counters (data set). You add memory, CPU and network interface counters.
Set the directory to store the data.
To view the baseline report on Performance Monitor, use the following instructions:
Right-click on the baseline data collector and select stop.
Expand the Reports > User Defined > Name of the collector set.
To monitor the performance of a Linux-based machine, you can use the following utilities:
top
htop
free
sysstat
sar 4
System monitor
HWMonitor - monitors the temperature of the device.
