Dear Inner Wheel,
What good news that many of your clubs worldwide are excited to contribute to combating violence against women and girls and the UN Women campaign Orange the World!
I will inform my colleagues of the UN Women country offices and national committees that they might be contacted by Inner Wheel clubs about possible cooperation.
Anita also asked me about the use of the campaign logo of the orange hand, which originated with UNW NL but is now used in multiple countries. We would be happy if you helped promote the hand across the world, because that contributes to the unity and thereby the strength of the campaign. We would therefore like for you to help safeguard the goals and reputation of the campaign, by being willing to step in if for instance the logo is used on products or messages that could be detrimental to the campaign (for example t-shirts made in sweatshops, or that are otherwise incompatible with human rights standards and women’s rights in particular).
I wish you good luck with the campaign!
Best wishes, Marije Cornelissen, Director of UN Women the Netherlands
Here’s to confirm that you can use the term UNiTE for your logo and involvement in the Orange the World campaign.
It would be wonderful if in your texts, you could refer to it being a campaign of the United Nations coordinated by UN Women. But we’re very happy when other organisations such as Inner Wheel, with a large following across the globe, join us in raising awareness and/or fundraising to combat genderbased violence. Various authorities at all levels and other stakeholders such as non-governmental organisations use the term ‘UNiTE’ to assist in broadening the campaign to over 100 countries and engaging ever more women, men and children in preventing and combating violence.
It’s great that Inner Wheel is now joining this effort on a global level, so thanks very much for that!
