Complete

Complete flowers have all of the parts you can expect from a flower: pistils, stamens, petals and sepals.



Incomplete

Incomplete flowers are missing something, like a pistils, stamens, petals or sepals.

Perfect

Perfect flowers can reproduce themselves, by themselves. They have all of the male and all of the female reproductive parts. And they're all working.

Imperfect

Imperfect flowers are unisexual. They have either male or female reproductive parts.

Ligulate

Ligulate means tongue-shaped and it's used synonymously with strap-shaped. It's used to describe a small tongue- or strap-shaped appendage It can mean a leaf or petal that's shaped like a tongue. Odd way of describing something, because the shape of your tongue is not immediately obvious.
