Review MGS's study segment maps and see where routes could cross your area.
Public comment on study segments is open through September 7, 2026. Use our comment template to make yours specific and effective.
Ask your town, county, and state representatives to demand an existing-corridor analysis before any route advances.
BECI is a proposed nearly 190-mile, 765-kV transmission line across Wisconsin, developed by Midcontinent Grid Solutions (MGS) as part of a MISO regional grid plan. MGS itself says no final route has been selected.
OUR POSITION: No new greenfield BECI corridor should advance until Midcontinent Grid Solutions demonstrates, with transparent, route-specific evidence, why existing utility corridors cannot reasonably be used, rebuilt, expanded, or paralleled, and provides a meaningful comparison of impacts to farms, homes, wetlands, waterways, woodlands, rural communities, and private property.
We support a reliable electric grid. We also believe major infrastructure should be sited transparently, lawfully, and with the least feasible harm to the communities that host it.
NEXT DEADLINE: MGS is requesting public feedback on study segments by September 7, 2026. Open houses are being held the week of August 24, 2026 in Richland, Crawford, Sauk, Columbia, Jefferson, Dane/Dodge, Walworth, and Rock counties. (Source: MGS project website. Verify current dates before relying on them for a specific meeting.)
HOW WE LABEL INFORMATION ON THIS SITE
FACT: supported by a primary or reliable source, cited.
MGS CLAIM: a statement Midcontinent Grid Solutions makes about its own project, attributed as such.
COMMUNITY CONCERN: a potential impact or unanswered question residents are asking regulators/developers to evaluate.
ANALYSIS: our reasoned interpretation of maps, filings, statutes, or research. Not presented as an established fact.
This site does not claim BECI causes cancer, that 765-kV lines are inherently unsafe, that a specific property-value loss percentage applies to every home, that MGS can simply reuse an existing lower-voltage right-of-way, or that a final route has already been chosen. We ask MGS and regulators to provide the evidence, route by route.
