ABOUT THIS SITE
This site is maintained by Cold Spring, WI community residents who are following the proposed BECI 765-kV transmission project. We are not opposed to a reliable electric grid. We believe major infrastructure should be sited transparently, lawfully, and with the least feasible harm to the communities that host it, and that Wisconsin's existing-corridor siting priorities and route-specific alternatives analysis should be followed and disclosed before a new greenfield corridor is approved.
OUR EDITORIAL STANDARD
We label information as FACT (supported by a primary or reliable source), MGS CLAIM (a statement MGS makes about its own project), COMMUNITY CONCERN (a potential impact or unanswered question we are asking regulators/developers to evaluate), or ANALYSIS (our reasoned interpretation, not an established fact). We do not publish unsupported health claims, fixed property-value-loss percentages, claims that a final route has been selected, or claims that an existing lower-voltage right-of-way can definitely accommodate a 765-kV line.
