The following designs were logos that I created in my spare time. Some of them I submitted to the original source.
The current logo was added in the early 2000s from what I could find. My only problem is that the logo screams too much 80s and 90s. I am still working on fixing the logo to face sideways for helmet use, but I don't plan on changing much of the original logo as is. I recolored one of Dan Blessing's (Design Shark) design for Stevensville High School in Montana. Still working out the kinks, though.
Funny story, Milan Area Schools dropped its Native American spear logo in 2013, but still kept the name "Big Red" as the mascot. The mascot was changed to a bird. But after 2020, the logo was used less by student run organizations in the district and replaced with the Milan Crooked tree instead. I created a new design for the "Big Red" bird. But to be honest, "Milan Falcons" rolls off the tongue better.
I couldn't find when the original logo was added. My only problem with the current sports logo was that having a front facing dog on the side of a helmet does not work out on the field. So I created one from scratch.
DREADNAUGHTS to SENTINELS
At first when I saw the "Dreadnaught" logo, I thought to myself, "what exactly am I looking at?" Then once I saw the thin lines on top , I said, "it's just a boat. How can this be used for school spirit?" It is such a complex logo, so I new I had to redesign it somehow, that's how I came up with the Dexter "Sentinels." I mean, at least its still military related somehow, right?
RAILSPLITTERS to LYNXES
I looked all over the internet for a different logo besides the main "LR," and I couldn't find anything else, period. Then I kept thinking, rail-splitters, as in Abraham Lincoln? That's it? There had to be more to it than one logo. So I thought of Lincoln Mountain Lions, Pumas, etc,. Then I thought, lynxes, (for alliteration purposes), that should do it!
Before, this school district hasn't updated their school logo from what looks to be the 1940s. THANKFULLY... MCSD updated their logo not that long ago which is highly based off of the ALT logo. Dutchmen, to me, is a pretty cool mascot, and even with the old logo, they had a pretty good idea of what to use. And I didn't change much, besides the shoe design.
