"Service work is not about being in control. It is actually about... learning how to function without the need for control."
~ from Why Do Service Work? CoDA Communications Committee (2010)

*New elections are held at the January business meeting.
For newcomers attending their first meeting, we use a special format for their first breakout group. In these groups, we give extra instruction and information, share our CoDA story, and allow them time to share and ask questions.
If you have been attending meetings for 3 months and have begun to work the steps with a sponsor or step group, you can become a newcomer small group leader. If you feel like you are ready to lead these groups, then please let us know by contacting us at codarecoveryky@gmail.com
Sponsorship is the cornerstone of all 12-Step programs. Our meeting is still growing, and traditional sponsorship is just beginning. However, our group supports four different types of sponsorship.
Traditional Sponsor: Someone who has worked all the steps (in any program), has been attending CoDA meetings for over 6 months, and has at least one hour a week available to meet with a sponsee. A traditional sponsor-sponsee relationship is long-term/indefinite. A sponsor offers support and guidance to their sponsee as they work through the Twelve Steps of CoDependents Anonymous.
Temporary Sponsor: Someone who has completed at least the first three steps, has been attending CoDA meetings regularly for at least 6 months, and has at least one hour a week available to meet with a sponsee. A temporary sponsor must be at least one step ahead of their sponsee in their step work. They will offer support and guidance to their sponsee as they work the Twelve Steps of Codependents Anonymous. The commitment of a temporary sponsor is typically 2 - 3 months, but may be extended.
Newcomer Sponsor: Someone who has been attending CoDA meetings regularly for at least 3 months and has at least one hour a week available to meet with a sponsee. A newcomer sponsor will orient the newcomer to our group and program, help them identify resources, and support them as they begin their work in CoDA. The commitment of a newcomer sponsor is short, approximately 1 - 2 months.
Co-Sponsor: Someone who has been regularly attending CoDA meetings for at least 6 weeks and has at least one hour a week available to meet. The goal of this relationship will be to support each other as you work the steps together. The commitment of a co-sponsorship relationship can be as short as 2 - 3 months or indefinite.

“The members of the Fellowship of Co-Dependents Anonymous, in carrying out the will of a loving Higher Power, advance their individual recoveries, work to insure the continuance of their groups and their program, and carry the message to codependents who still suffer. They may also collectively authorize and establish service boards or committees and empower trusted servants to perform service work.” ~ First CoDA Service Concept
