Tradition Three states “the only requirement for membership in CoDA is a desire for healthy and loving relationships.”
We welcome all without regard to race, age, religious affiliation, ability, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
Many CoDA members attend other twelve step fellowships. CoDA is not a replacement for other twelve step programs, just as other programs are not a replacement for CoDA.
Yes, newcomers are always welcome, and we are grateful to have you join us.
There is no need to register. You can just drop in.
There is no cost to attend CoDA Meetings. They are free.
However, our Seventh Tradition reminds us that we are self-supporting through our own contributions. We ask that you donate as you are able. Since we are not currently meeting in person, we would invite you to donate to the World Service organization if you wish using the link available on our home page or on coda.org.
For general information about CoDA meetings, see the pamphlet: Your First Meeting

Sharing is optional. During sharing, we talk about our lives and our feelings. Newcomers may feel anxious or distracted, dreading the idea of talking. Some may find it hard to stop talking once they start. Newcomers are encouraged to share as they feel able. It is recommended to begin slowly; some wait weeks before speaking. When sharing in CoDA meetings, we use “I” statements to help keep the focus on ourselves and to help us express our feelings directly and honestly. We limit our sharing to 3-5 minutes. This boundary allows time for everyone to share.

You do not have to purchase anything to participate in CoDA meetings. Copies are provided for you in both in-person and online meetings.
However, it is a good idea to invest in your recovery by purchasing CoDA literature when financially feasible. You can find materials to purchase at http://www.corepublications.org/
In our meetings, we use the CoDA Book (either the full or pocket edition).
CoDA is a Twelve Step program in the tradition of Alcoholics Anonymous. It involves attending weekly meetings and working the steps with a sponsor. It does not utilize a curriculum like Celebrate Recovery.
To work the steps you may find the Twelve Steps & Twelve Traditions Workbook helpful.
Periodically, a Step Study Group forms to work the steps together. For more information about Step Study Groups, click here: https://coda.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Working-the-Steps-in-a-Group-v4.pdf
Check out our "Joining Online" page for directions on how to join.
If you are using a smartphone or tablet, you will likely be prompted to download the Google Meet app when you click on the link to join the meeting. You can find the link on our home page.
If you do not have a computer, tablet, or smartphone available, you can call in. You will not be able to see the documents presented, but links to most of the documents can be found on the "Our Meetings" page of this website.
To call in, dial: +1 316-778-8254 and enter the PIN: 582 396 507#
After you attend at least six CoDA meetings, listen for people who consistently share their recovery in a way that’s understandable to you. Talk with these people on the telephone or face-to-face to help you decide if you can feel safe confiding in them. Then ask one of these people if he/she would be willing to sponsor you. If your prospective sponsor is unable to make the commitment, he/she will tell you.
Please do not consider this a personal rejection. People with recovery place limits on the number of CoDA members they can sponsor. Others may feel unready in their own recovery to guide someone else. Keep looking and asking. The “right” sponsor will emerge.
