Senior Naval Science Instructor & Supervisor, NJROTC Program
The Senior Naval Science Instructor is Major Gregory J. Penczak, USMC (Ret). The S/NSI serves as the Department Head of Naval Science at the school hosting an NJROTC program. The S/NSI is a senior commissioned officer (W2 through O6) employed by the school. The minimum education requirement for S/NSI’s is a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
Naval Science Instructor
The NS1 Naval Science Instructor is Master Chief Michael D. Dunkin. Master Chief Dunkin is a native of Kalispell, Montana. He enlisted in the Navy in November 1983 and attended boot camp in Great Lakes, Ill., followed by Machinist Mate “A” school. Master Chief worked in the boiler and engine rooms while completing numerous “Mediterranean” and “North Atlantic” deployments while serving in the Navy. Master Chief Dunkin retired in 2007 after his tour at Navy Recruiting District New York and has achieved numerous awards in his 24 years of service, including Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), along with various unit and service commendations. A graduate of Flathead High School received a Bachelor’s degree from Touro University, Master’s degree from Fort Hays State University. Master Chief Dunkin started teaching NJROTC at Colts Neck High School, NJ in September of 2009.
Naval Science Instructor
Aviation Structural Mechanic Chief Petty Officer (Aviation Warfare Specialist) Diego A. Diaz, USN (Ret). is the Unit's current NS2 and NS3 Instructor. A native of Buenos Aires Argentina, He joined the US Navy on 13 May 1996 and retired from Active-duty April 1st , 2018. Chief is a graduate of Memorial High School (WNY, NJ) and he Holds a B.S in Management from Embry Riddle-University, an M.B.A from Saint Leo University, and a Teaching License from the state of New Jersey. He has been employed by Freehold Regional High School District since September 2021.
