Freehold Regional High School District’s Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) Academy is a four-year leadership and character development academy located at Colts Neck High School. The Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps Academy’s curriculum consists of four areas of study: leadership, academics, military skills, and physical fitness. Leadership studies emphasize individual character development through increased self-discipline, dependability and teamwork. NJROTC Academics cover naval sciences and how the US Navy has, and continues to impact our nation’s history and security. Military skills’ training includes building teamwork through drill and ceremonies, an understanding of military customs and courtesies, and extracurricular activities. Cadets achieve their educational objectives by working within the framework of a military style organization that offers them opportunities for travel to interesting destinations, as well as participation in unique extracurricular activities and numerous community service events. Individual cadets are encouraged to seek and attain promotions to military ranks that will enable them to achieve the levels of individual responsibilities they desire. The program at Colts Neck High School holds distinguished unit status for the eighth consecutive year and may directly recommend students to the military service academies. Additionally, the unit is ranked as #1 within the northeast region and #3 in the entire world.
