Courses and Certifications...
CMST, in partnership with ThirdMill Institute, offers online courses of study through which students can earn certificates and a diploma. There are three certificate programs:
The Foundations Certificate consists of four introductory courses in both Bible and Theology
The Certificate in Biblical Studies consists of five Bible courses
The Certificate in Theological Studies consists of five Theology courses
The Diploma in Christian Ministry will be awarded upon successful completion of these three certificate programs.
Use of the Online Classroom Format...
Our courses are offered online and are conducted one at a time.
Each class in a course includes an online video session and a follow-up discussion session (called a “precept”). Videos are typically between 1.5 and 2 hours long and can be re-watched as often as the student may need. Transcripts and outlines of the videos are available for download.
Online homework questions are provided and some of the video sessions also have an online quiz along with a final course exam. Quizzes and tests are not punitive, but are meant to be instructive and can be taken “open book,” allowing students to refer to their notes or course materials. Corrections are provided to any incorrect responses, and quizzes and tests can be retaken until the material is understood (although questions vary with every repeat effort). A grade of "B" (80%) is required as a minimum passing grade for a quiz or test. The video, homework, and quiz can be completed at the student’s discretion, but must be done prior to the scheduled precept for the class.
Precepts will be conducted by video conference, which also allows for call-in access by phone. Class log-in and other information will be provided to registered students no later than one day prior to the first class session. Students should bear in mind that data and long distance charges may apply based upon their internet and/or telephone carrier plan. Students are advised to check with their internet data or telephone service provider in order to ensure access and minimize their fees (if any).
What is expected of Students...
Students must affirm the CMST statement of beliefs and register for a course by the registration deadline.
Students must have internet access and an email address In order to access their online account with the ThirdMill Institute portal. This can be via computer, Chromebook, tablet, or smart-phone.
Students are to be prepared for each precept, joining on time and actively participating, having previously viewed the required class video and completed any related assignments and quizzes. This includes having completed the online orientation and first lecture video prior to the first course precept.
Students are expected to successfully complete the final exam and other requirements in order to meet the full requirements of a course and have it credited toward a certificate or diploma.
