Can I earn a certificate or diploma through CMST?
Yes. CMST, in partnership with ThirdMill Institute, offers online courses of study through which students can earn certificates and a diploma. There are three certificate programs, which if successfully completed, meet the requirements for a diploma. For more information see Our Approach. For students who have a bachelor's degree, CMST / ThirdMill Institute courses can apply for credit toward a Master's Degree or Graduate Certificate through the Third Mill Seminary.
How much does it cost?
While the free curriculum videos and materials through ThirdMill allow CMST to pass the savings on to its students, any other expenses incurred in providing a given course are included in the course fee. Such fees are posted with the registration information for courses or special trainings. For information on any fees for the current course being offered see the Course Registration page.
Do I have to enroll in a certificate program in order to take a course?
No. Students can register for a class without committing to a certificate program. However, credit for classes that are successfully completed can be applied toward a certificate program at a later date.
Are you affiliated with any denomination?
CMST is not affiliated with a denomination, but is an institutional member of the World Reformed Fellowship.
Do I have to be a member of a particular church or denomination to register for a course?
No. CMST is open to all Christians who embrace the school's basic beliefs, regardless of church or denominational background. However, it is anticipated that students will be active in the Christian church of their choice or in the process of actively seeking a church home.
Why do students have to agree with CMST's basic beliefs in order to register?
This is a Christian institution, dedicated to training disciples of Christ. It is anticipated that students will be Christ-centered and Bible believing.
What is your approach to biblical interpretation?
CMST affirms that the the 39 books of the Old Testament and the 27 books of the New Testament are the Word of God and are "profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16 ESV), and are the rule and guide for life and faith. CMST affirms a "high view" of Scripture and applies the grammatical-historical approach to biblical interpretation. For more details on this, see the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy and the Chicago Statement on Biblical Hermeneutics.
Do I have to be going into licensed or ordained ministry in order to take these courses?
While our programs would benefit those going into some form of licensed, consecrated, or ordained Christian ministry, mission, or service (or even those already working in this capacity), students are not required to be seeking any formal ministry status or position. All Christians are called to grow in their knowledge and service to the Lord and are to participate in the Great Commission to make disciples. CMST is dedicated to educating disciples of Jesus Christ for the mission of His church.
Is this training accepted for a ministry license or ordination?
CMST is an educational ministry. Licensure, consecration, and ordination are the purview of Churches and Denominations, which have varying requirements for granting such status. However, our curriculum from ThirdMill is used in many seminaries, Bible colleges, churches and other ministries around the world, training nearly 700,000 supervised students, many of whom are in active licensed, consecrated, or ordained ministry.
What is the meaning of your logo?
The CMST logo is a Jerusalem Cross, which is also known as a Crusader's Cross. It was the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. In more recent times, it has come to represent the mission of the church to proclaim the Gospel to the "four corners" of the earth. CMST added red to represent the blood of Jesus, poured out for the remission of the sins of all who have repentant faith in him. The royal blue reminds us that He is our King whose kingdom shall have no end.
I registered for a course or sent a contact form. Why have I not received any email from CMST?
Our registration confirmation and emails may have been screened as "spam" or "junk" instead of going to your email inbox. Please check those folders and ensure that you enable CMST emails to go directly to your inbox. If the problem persists, please contact CMST (using the email form or phone number from our "Contact" page) and leave your name, call back number, email address, and a brief message and we will address the issue. When leaving a voicemail, please speak slowly and clearly.
After I register for a course, how do I access the online class sessions?
Class log-in and other information will be provided to registered students no later than one day prior to the first class session. For courses that require classwork prior to the first precept, instructions will immediately follow the close of registration for the course. Keep an eye on your email inbox. Please bear in mind that data and long distance charges may apply based upon your internet and/or telephone carrier plan. Check with your internet data or telephone service provider in order to ensure access and minimize their fees (if any).
