Safeguarding for Young LARPers

All players of Dark Moon aged 18 or over must play characters aged 18 or over. Sexual or sexualised activity involving people under the age of 18, or who appear to be under the age of 18, or who are played by players under the age of 18, is not a part of Dark Moon. This is to ensure a safe and secure environment for younger players.

Young LARPers over the age of 18

If you are 18 or over, you are an adult and can have full participation in our society. We particularly welcome students from Cambridge University. If you are a student or of a similar age and have geographical ties to Cambridge, you will be eligible for free membership of Cambridge LARP Society this year. We advise you to make appropriate use of the Personal Safety Boundary roles to restrict the kinds of roleplay other players are allowed to engage you in. The Head Ref is happy to discuss ways to handle your emotional safety when existing in social spaces with older adults, and will take a supportive stance on any issues which arise.

Young LARPers age 16-17

If you are under age 18 and have geographical ties to Cambridge, you will be allowed to play Dark Moon. You will be given a Personal Safety Boundary role identifying your age as <18 and banned from the Restricted Topics channels. You will also be allowed to play a character your actual age or older (rather than 18 or older). If you have no geographical ties to Cambridge, we kindly request that you find your fun elsewhere in the big wide world!

It is up to the discretion of the individual in-person linear refs whether they are comfortable having under-18s on their linear.

Young LARPers age 13-15

If you are under 16 and would like to play Dark Moon, the Head Ref would like to have a short chat with one of your parents or guardians to ensure they understand what you're getting into, and will take their advice on whether you should be allowed to play. The Head Ref is happy to add non-playing parents or guardians to the Discord server for the purpose of parental supervision.

Young LARPers age <13

You are not allowed to play Dark Moon if you are under 13 years of age, because Discord contains in its terms of service that people under age 13 should not use the platform.
