Co-Instructing
Co-instructing represents another critical element in the co-teaching cycle. So what exactly is "co-instructing"? We define co-instructing as two or more teachers actively engaging together in enacting the lesson that was co-planned with attention on instructional goals, analysis of student learning, instructional tasks, instructional tools, and assessment plan.
Note: We use the term co-instructing, which is often referred to as co-teaching.
We make this distinction to highlight the role of co-instructing as one element of the cycle of co-teaching.
Co-Teaching Strategies
We utilize six co-teaching strategies, adapted from the work of Bacharach, Heck, & Dahlberg (2010) and Murawski & Spencer (2011). Each strategy defines the role of each teacher in the co-teaching process, as well as how teachers might share instructional space.
