Did you know that the UUCA grounds are home to several unique habitats, including remnants of a native forest that provides a beautiful view from the sanctuary windows and a native Virginia pollinator garden planted by RE children in 2015?

Many of the plants on the UUCA grounds have been cataloged by dedicated DIG volunteers, who meet twice every month to care for UUCA's native plants and remove invasive weeds.

DIG Landscaping Policy

DIG has created and staff approved a UUCA Green Landscaping Strategy. The approach provides environmentally sustainable guidelines for landscape planning and practices, and structures DIG's efforts.

DIG has also proposed a scheme to combine volunteer and professional effort for maintenance of the landscape at UUCA focused on general tactics for keeps the grounds attractive and sustainable while honoring our seventh principle. Read about it below.
