We specialize in AKC Miniature Schnauzer puppies with perfect health from show quality parents. Our puppies are ideal for families looking to show competitively, or enjoy a well-bred Miniatue Schnauzers as a pet. Dogs from our program mature between 18lbs and 22lbs depending on the parents. Colors available are primarily breed standard Salt & Pepper, Black & Silver, but on occasion we have a white or liver Miniature Schnauzer. We do not breed specifically for these colors, but sometimes have them available to pet homes!
We start at the beginning... applying to purchase a puppy from Clay Hill Kennels. By completing an application you are not committing to a puppy, and you are not guaranteed to receive one. Applying for one of our current or future puppies allows us to see if we have what you are looking for and if we would be a good fit for one another in a breeder-owner relationship. Applying for a puppy is the first step in your journey of adding a new puppy to your home!

Waiting for the right puppy is one of the most challenging steps a new owner needs to navigate. Resist the urge to snap up the first available puppy you see listed online. Locating the right puppy from the best breeder is key to a lifetime of joy and success with your new puppy! Responsible owners know that good things come to those who wait, and reputable breeders work with owners who are willing to wait for the perfect puppy. While there are times when you are fortunate enough to connect with us shortly before a litter is ready to go home, most times families wait an average of 2 months to 6 months for their puppy to be ready to leave. If you are interested in a puppy from our program contact us, we would love to speak with you and share more details about our pups! This gives us a change to hear what you are hoping to find in terms of breed, size, color, gender, etc and let you know if we have a good fit for you now or in the future! If you want us to hold your place in line, you can join our waiting list!

Both the breeder and the new owner play a role in deciding which puppy will go home with you!
We reserve the right to claim first pick of any litter regardless of where families are on a waiting list. Otherwise, we operate on a first come first serve basis once you are approved to have one of our puppies.

Benefits of In Person Pickup
You get to meet us!
We get to meet you!
You have the option of meeting the mother and in some cases the father!
You will meet any other available siblings and have the chance to interact with them!
You get to see where your puppy was raised!
While we encourage in person pick up, we understand that this is not always feasible due to distance, travel costs, and schedules. We will not deny an otherwise qualified home from purchasing one of our puppies strictly because they are unable to come in person. For your convenience we offer two delivery options for an extra charge.
Ground Delivery to your door or a designated meeting location. We are only able to delivery to homes within the United States and have limited delivery options for Alaska and Hawaii. We can delivery anywhere in the lower 48 states for $300-$550 extra.
Flight Delivery to an airport near your home. Cost of flights can range from $550 - $2500 depending on the cost of flights and availability of a flight nanny.
Regardless of why you are buying a puppy... companion, emotional support, service dog, working dog, or show you want your puppy to be healthy for years to come! This is why it is crucial for you to find and identify a reputable breeder.
Healthy puppies come from healthy parents! If you are purchasing a puppy, you should refuse to purchase a puppy if the parents were not thoroughly health tested! Purchasing a puppy without seeing the parents' health testing means you agree to the fact that the puppy could have and will likely develop a plethora of genetic issues that are costly, painful, and even life threatening!
Don't let yourself be fooled by these common excuses! Health testing is nessicary and is a key sign of a reputable breeder!
Another breeder has cheaper puppies, but doesn't do health testing.
Quality comes at a price. There are tons of irrisponsible breeders who can make it tempting to buy a puppy with a lower price tag, but remember you get what you pay for! The puppy might be cheaper up front, but the cost of correcting or managing preventable health issues will far exceed the difference in cost you would have origionaly paid for a genetically clear puppy!
My last dog's parents were not health tested and he lived to a ripe old age.
Congratulations, you were very lucky but you should not select a puppy from a breeder who is leaving your puppy's future health up to chance when they have full access to preventing painful, deadly, and expensive health issues
Another breeder said the last litter didn't have health issues, they have been breeding for years, don't know of issues with either parent, etc.
This is the worse excuse! First, if they are being honest, they can not prove that their dogs never had health problems because they do not know! Second, many health issues are recessive meaning they can hide in generations of unaffected dogs before claiming your puppy's health.
Health Testing is one sign that your breeder is reputable. It shows they are knowledgable of their breeds health challenges, dedicated to improving their health, and are committed to the longterm wellbeing of the puppies they raise! These are three things puppy mills never do.
Scammers rarely have specific information about their puppies because their puppies usually do not exist! Online scams thrive on circulating photos of puppies, which can easily be found online unlike documentation from genetic test companies. Asking to view the parent's health testing is another way to ensure you are working with a real breeder with real puppies!
You can not put a price on health... Puppies are family, when they need medical care it can be extremely expensive. Many genetic defects are painful & debilitating, its so sad to know that their pain could have easily been avoided with responsible breeding. Sadly, there are countless avoidable health issues that are terminal. There is nothing worse than purchasing a puppy, growing to love them
