The eyebrows and mustache are one of the many iconic features of the Miniature Schnauzer. Originally, the extra facial hair was to protect the Schnauzer's face from the biting rodents they were in charge of ridding, but today that need is obsolete as a family pet, working or show dog. Many Schnauzer enthusiasts choose to maintain the breed-standard appearance but it takes time, effort, and money to keep a Schnauzer's coat long and healthy. If you do not have the time to keep your pup's coat mat-free at it's full length you need to groom the coat to a more manageable length to avoid neglecting your pup's grooming needs!
