The Material Testing Laboratory provides students with practical exposure to the identification, testing, evaluation, and quality control of construction materials used in modern civil engineering projects. The laboratory is equipped to conduct standard tests on cement, aggregates, concrete, bricks, timber, and other construction materials in accordance with relevant BIS and IS specifications. Students gain hands-on experience in determining material properties such as fineness, soundness, compressive strength, workability, aggregate characteristics, concrete strength, and non-destructive testing techniques. The laboratory also supports learning in concrete mix design, quality assurance, sustainable construction materials, and modern construction technologies, enabling students to develop the technical skills required for material selection, testing, inspection, and quality control in building and infrastructure projects. This practical training bridges theoretical concepts with real-world engineering applications, preparing diploma engineers for professional roles in construction, testing, and quality management.
Objective of Material Testing Lab is to give a broad understanding of common materials related to mechanical engineering with an emphasis on the fundamentals of structure-property-application relationships. Materials Testing is a range of highly precise and reliable techniques that determine and measure the characteristics of materials, such as mechanical properties, elemental composition, corrosion resistance and the effects of heat treatments.
