Ux Research
COMD 3562: User Interface Design and Research class.
User experience (UX) research is the formal study of how users interact with an organization's products and services. It involves investigating users' motivations, behaviors, and experiences to help clients understand how to create new products or improve existing ones. UX research can be used at any stage of the design process. We apply Ux research to improve how we organize, publicize, promote and produce materials and campaigns for the larger Anti-Hate initiative.
Students identify and research specific questions. This year's participation will investigate these topics:
CHI: Competitive analysis and literature review of similar programs; interviews and concept evaluations with faculty and students on the attractiveness and viability of the proposal; interviews and card sorts to identify the key information needs for potential stakeholders and the layout of that information.
Anti-Hate: Competitive analysis and literature review of similar projects; field studies to determine the efficacy of the May 2 event; interviews and usability testing to determine the information needs and hierarchy of the website.
Smartphones: Literature review of smartphone usage in the classroom; contextual inquiry and field studies of smartphone usage patterns in classrooms; interviews and concept evaluations of proposed usage of smartphones in classrooms.
