City Tech supporting the CUNY Anti-Hate initiative
City Tech supporting the CUNY Anti-Hate initiative
The three-year CUNY Anti-Hate Initiative confronts hate in the United States. in 2023-24 we focused on Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Jewish communities. We continue in future years to address Black, Hispanic, Islamic, and LGBTQ populations. Hoping to break chains of stereotyping, prejudice, and violence through multi-disciplinary actions, and rooted in the philosophy where combating hate means fostering pro-love, acceptance, and empathy, our goal is to fuse ideas and cultures, inviting participation from all both within and from outside of the targeted populations. This meta-project consists of a variety of activities during the Spring semester, culminating in an annual May event of ideas and expressions across physical and digital realms, drawing from a heritage of cultural celebrations and aiming to preserve a digital footprint upon which to build in succeeding iterations of the project. Our goal is to continue to develop this over the next years, thus allowing for ambitious projects requiring more than a single semester to come to fruition.
