美國伊利諾大學哲學博士(主修諮商心理學),曾任台灣師範大學教育心理與輔導學系教授、系主任,澳門大學教育學院教授、博士生導師、客座學者;並曾擔任台灣輔導與諮商學會理事長、台灣生涯發展與諮詢學會理監事。現為台灣師範大學榮退名譽教授。曾獲得美國心理學會 (諮商心理學分會)生涯諮商專業交流特殊貢獻獎章(2007)、美國生涯發展學會華人生涯發展傑出專業獎(2017)、台灣輔導與諮商學會終身成就獎(2021)以及台灣生涯發展與諮詢學會終身成就獎(2022)的肯定。
在學術成就方面,金樹人教授致力於生涯輔導領域的研究和實踐,曾發表相關學術論述或期刊論文百餘篇。近年來代表性的指標為編著《華人生涯理論與實踐-本土化與多元性視野》(共同主編)。此外,其著作《生涯諮商與輔導》長期以來為大中華地區的生涯發展理論與諮商實務打下扎實穩固的根基;最新修訂版大幅度充實東西方生涯理論,增列生涯因緣觀與中庸生涯理論,對中華本土社會科學貢獻良多。金樹人教授近年來學術探究的重心,著重於東方智慧與西方心理療癒觀點的對話與詮釋,共舞與融合。
Professor Jin Shuhren graduated from the Master's program in Educational Psychology at National Taiwan Normal University (1978) and the Doctoral program in Counseling Psychology at the University of Illinois (1986). He has served as a professor and department chair at the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling at National Taiwan Normal University, a professor, doctoral advisor, and visiting scholar at the Faculty of Education at the University of Macau. Additionally, he has held positions as the president of the Taiwan Guidance and Counseling Association and a board member of the Taiwan Career Development and Consultation Association. He is currently an honorary emeritus professor at National Taiwan Normal University.
Professor Jin has dedicated over forty years to counseling psychology and career counseling for the Chinese community. He has been actively involved in international exchanges between the cultural spheres of Greater China and the West, serving as an organizing committee member for several academic conferences and as an invited keynote speaker. His contributions have been recognized with several awards: the Commendation for Professional Exchange in Career Counseling from the American Psychological Association (Division of Counseling Psychology) in 2007, the most outstanding Professional Award in Chinese Career Development from the National Career Development Association, USA in 2017, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Taiwan Guidance and Counseling Association in 2021, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Taiwan Career Development and Consultation Association in 2022.
In terms of academic achievements, Professor Jin has focused on research and practice in the field of career counseling, publishing over a hundred academic papers and journal articles. He has significantly extended and expanded indigenous theories and practices of career counseling based on Eastern philosophy, garnering attention from the academic community. One of his representative works in recent years is the co-edited book "Chinese Career Theory and Practice: Localization and Multidimensional Perspectives." His book "Career Counseling and Guidance" has long provided a solid foundation for career development theory and counseling practice in the Greater China region. The latest revised edition substantially enriches both Eastern and Western career theories, incorporating concepts such as the Career Yuan (causal) View and Career Theory of the Doctrine of the Mean, greatly contributing to the social sciences in the Chinese context.
In recent years, Professor Jin's academic focus has shifted to the dialogue and interpretation between Eastern wisdom and Western psycho-therapeutical perspectives, exploring their integration and interaction. He investigates the nature of suffering for the Chinese people, how to transcend suffering, and how to create a flowing psychological space to activate stagnant and trapped psychological energy. His in-depth topics include: the dialectical principles of the Doctrine of the Mean and psychological healing, psychological displacement and the imagery of Soul Mountain, the path of Zen joy and Gestalt therapy, the combined practice of cessation and contemplation with cognitive therapy, and the integration of Eastern imagery with Jungian theories, etc.
