Presentation

The purpose of this project was to pick one emerging technology and talk about how it will grow in the next 5-10 years.

• My project was about Synthetic Biology. I discussed the positives of it and why it can help our society in the future as well as the negatives and how it can hurt. I chose this topic because it sounded like something from a video game, and it did not seem real.

• One of the coolest things I learned was that they are using Synthetic Biology to tailor certain medications to adapt to each person's body. This is amazing to me because, as someone who takes medication, I wish all meds would adjust with my body easily

• I learned that Unit 5 is no joke and very project-related. I feel very relieved that this project is over, but I know there is still a long way to go with the group project. From this project alone, I learned that Synthetic Biology has many possible ways in which it can heal the world, but it also has many ways it can destroy it. When I think about this, though, it feels like any other new emerging technology. All new emerging technologies have this contrast in which they can help/hurt humanity, so I am not too worried. I believe synthetic biology will be for the betterment of humanity.
