Effective Date: 13 May 2026
This Privacy Policy governs the use of the "Script Marking" application (the "App") developed by Chung Tak Fai for iOS and iPadOS devices. This policy outlines how the App collects, utilises, and protects your information, as well as the information of your students.
1.1 Offline-First Architecture The App is designed as a secure, offline-first toolkit for educators. When you import PDF documents, create student profiles, and make grading annotations, all such data—including student names, class numbers, academic marks, and image segments—is processed and stored locally on your device. The App utilises on-device processing for tasks such as Optical Character Recognition (OCR). We do not transmit, upload, or back up your data to any developer-owned servers.
1.2 iCloud Backups If you have enabled iCloud backup on your device, your local App data may be securely backed up to your personal Apple iCloud account in accordance with your device settings and Apple’s privacy policies. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
2.1 Purpose of Integration The App offers an optional integration with Google Classroom to streamline your marking workflow. If you choose to sign in using your Google account, the App requests specific permissions (OAuth scopes) to perform the following actions on your behalf:
View your courses and rosters (classroom.courses.readonly, classroom.rosters.readonly): Used strictly to display your available classes and accurately match local student records within the App with your Google Classroom roster.
View your coursework and topics (classroom.coursework.students, classroom.topics.readonly): Used to list available assignment topics and manage student submissions.
Manage files in Google Drive (drive.file): Used solely to upload your exported, marked PDF scripts to Google Drive so they can be securely attached and returned to individual student submissions in Google Classroom.
2.2 Google API Services Limited Use Disclosure The App's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere strictly to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data retrieved from Google Classroom is utilised entirely within the App to facilitate the roster matching and grading upload process. We do not store your Google Classroom data on any external servers, nor do we share, transfer, or sell this data to any third parties.
3.1 Apple Services The App utilises Apple's standard frameworks, including StoreKit for processing in-app purchases (such as the Premium unlock feature). All financial transactions are handled securely by Apple. The App does not collect, process, or store your payment information.
3.2 Google Authentication Authentication is handled via the official Google Sign-In SDK. Your authentication tokens are managed securely by the SDK and the iOS keychain.
The App respects your privacy and does not incorporate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking frameworks. We do not track your usage behaviour, nor do we collect identifiable device metrics.
The security of your data is of paramount importance. Because the App operates primarily offline and relies on on-device processing, the risk of data breaches in transit is inherently minimised. We rely on the robust security measures provided by iOS and iPadOS to protect your locally stored data. When interacting with Google APIs, the App ensures secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS) are used at all times.
The App is intended for use by educators, teachers, and school administrators; it is not designed to be used directly by children. While the App processes student data (such as names and marks), it is the sole responsibility of the educator or the educational institution to ensure that the collection, processing, and uploading of such data comply with their local educational privacy regulations and school policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's functionality or legal requirements. Any modifications will be published on our official website, and the "Effective Date" at the top of this document will be updated accordingly.
