Your privacy and the privacy of your students are of paramount importance to us. This Privacy Policy describes how MCMarKING (referred to as "the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles personal data and information when you use our mobile application.
The App is designed as an educational tool for teachers to perform Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) grading, manage student rosters, and sync assessment data with Google Classroom.
To protect user and student privacy, MCMarKING operates on a serverless architecture. We do not own, operate, or maintain any external database servers to collect, harvest, or store your data. All data remains strictly under your control.
The App processes and stores grading data, question count configurations, student names, class lists, student numbers, images of processed answer sheets, and grade outputs.
iCloud Storage & Cross-Platform Syncing: To allow you to access your projects and rosters seamlessly across your different devices (such as iPad and iPhone), this data is securely synced and stored in your private Apple iCloud container linked with your Apple ID.
Developer Access: We have absolutely no access to this data. The synchronization takes place directly between your Apple devices and Apple’s secure iCloud servers using your personal credentials.
The App integrates with Google APIs to retrieve your active courses, assignments, student rosters, and topics. It also uploads graded PDFs to your Google Drive and updates student grades in Google Classroom.
Authentication: Google Sign-In is used to authorize these requests. When you sign in with your Google account, the authentication token is stored securely in your device’s keychain.
Google Classroom Scopes:
Read-only access to Classroom courses, rosters, and topics to populate your student list.
Write access to student submissions and coursework to attach marked PDFs and sync numerical grades.
Access to Google Drive (drive.file scope) to create a secure MCMarKING folder in your drive where marked PDFs are uploaded before being attached to Classroom assignments.
Data Transmission: All interactions with Google services are executed directly from your device to the Google APIs. No Google account information, token, or student roster data is sent to us or any other third party.
To provide its core functions, the App relies on trusted cloud infrastructure provided by Apple and Google. By using MCMarKING, you agree to their respective privacy policies:
Apple iCloud Services: Used for securing, backing up, and syncing your app data across devices under your Apple ID.
Google APIs & SDKs: Used for signing in and managing Google Classroom integration.
We are committed to securing student and teacher data:
No Developer Backend: Because we do not run proprietary servers, there is no central database that can be breached or compromised. Your data is as secure as your personal Apple and Google accounts.
Keychain Storage: Authentication tokens and sensitive credentials are encrypted and stored locally in the iOS/iPadOS Keychain.
iCloud Security: Your data saved in iCloud is protected by Apple's industry-standard security protocols, including encryption in transit and at rest.
We recognize that educators use this App to handle sensitive student records.
COPPA & FERPA Compliance: Since no student data is collected, sold, or shared by the developer, the App complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). All student roster data imported from Google Classroom or pasted from the clipboard remains strictly within your school's Google Workspace for Education tenant and your private Apple iCloud workspace.
GDPR Compliance: Users within the European Economic Area (EEA) have complete control over their data. You can delete any student records, rosters, or projects within the App at any time. Removing the App or turning off iCloud syncing for MCMarKING will remove synchronized data from your private cloud storage.
You have absolute ownership and control of your data:
Local Deletion: You can delete student records, registers, and entire projects at any time within the "Manage Projects" screen in the App.
iCloud Deletion: You can delete all synced database files by going to your Apple device’s Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage, locating MCMarKING, and selecting "Delete Data."
Google Deletion: You can revoke MCMarKING's access to your Google Account at any time through your Google Account security settings.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our App features, legal requirements, or security standards. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
