Week 1

I created a google site to store any and all information about my experiences with Design VI.
Looked into the Canvas API to see how feasible it would be to create an application to receive data from discussion boards or chats.

Authentication for Canvas

Before doing anything, you need to authenticate yourself to get access to any of the API calls. I have shown on the side, a picture for the POST call to get the token. ( /login/oauth2/token ) grant_type is required to specific the type of token that needs to be received.

Get A Discussion Topic's Data

I have found that it is possible to get the discussion topics but the actual responses are a little more difficult because it would be necessary to cycle through every single topic with the route: /api/v1/courses/:course_id/discussion_topics/:topic_id/view

or /api/v1/groups/:group_id/discussion_topics/:topic_id/view.

I have yet to find an API Call specifically for the Chat Tab so I will continue to look into that. (It may be conversations but I'm not sure if conversations and Chat are the same thing.)
