I incorporate Nature Therapy in my practice as the mindful incorporation of the natural world into the therapeutic process, viewing nature as a healer in and of itself. I have specialized training in Nature Based Therapy from the Somatic Wilderness Therapy Institue and Nature Knows, completed November 1st, 2023.
Nature or Wilderness therapy has many branches often including the fields of of Adventure Therapy, Outdoor Education, Wilderness Questing, Ecopsychology, and Ecotherapy.
Isolation from the natural world and others is increasing, along with anxiety. The fast-paced world we live in, using mainly technology indoors, is a recipe for disconnection. Nature therapy challenges your individual patterns and behaviors, increases your connection to the natural world and self, while focusing on issues such as relationship struggles, stress and burnout, trauma, depression and anxiety.
Even 15 minutes in nature can increase your happiness, confidence, sense of self, deepen your connection within relationships, and allow your more authentic power to step in.
In a therapeutic process, there is a particular identified goal or intention for the work. This will determine the practices and interventions that are facilitated.
