" Life is not always fair...
Is if fair that all of you came from different backgrounds?
Is it fair that some of you can type faster?
Is it fair that some of you have computers at the hostel room and others
don't?
Is it fair that some of your hostels are closer to the college and others' far? "
-Prof. Sivakumar
At my age and stage in life, one comes to accept the fact that life is
full of deadlines, cut-offs, near-misses, and just-made-ins. You have to
simply judge whether something is grossly unfair - if it isn't, one has
to trade-off the super-optimizations of fairness against time and effort,
and make a decision, subjectively.
Take the example of a packet-scheduling algorithm in routers:
one can run algorithms super-optimized for fairness, but they require
a lot more space and time complexity.
Life's no different.

It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure.

Out of sight, is out of mind
Most of the troubles in life are the result of saying "Yes' too soon or saying 'No' too late
You are always moving in the life, it's your actions that decide the direction
For the first half of your life, people tell you what you should do; for the second half, they tell you what you should have done
Life is too short to be wasted
when going gets tough, tough gets going. So, go on....
Wt ppl call "congestion" in a train, becomes "atmosphere" in a night club. It's our perception that makes thing 'good' or 'bad'.
And somewhere there are engineers helping others fly faster than sound. But, where are the engineers helping those who must live on the ground ?

Sometimes, when u r feeling important,
sometimes, when ur ego is in bloom,
sometime, when u take it for granted,
u'r the best qualified in the room;
sometimes, when u feel that ur going,
would leave an unfillable hole,
Just follow this simple, instruction,
and see how it humbles ur soul.
take a bucket and fill it with water,
put ur hand in it upto the wrist,
pull it out, and the hole that's remaining,
is a measure of how u'll be missed.
u may splash all u please when u enter
u can stir up the water galore,
but stop, and u will find in a minute,
that it looks quite the same as before !
the moral in this quaint example,
is : do just the best u can,
be proud of urself, but remember,
There is no indispensable man.

Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down. Don't dance so fast.
Time is short. The music won't last.
Do you run through each day On the fly?
When you ask How are you? Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores running through your head?
You'd better slow down. Don't dance so fast.
Time is short. The music won't last.
Ever told your child,We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste, not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch, let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time to call and say,"Hi"
You'd better slow down. Don't dance so fast.
Time is short. The music won't last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....Thrown away.
Life is not a race.Do take it slower
Hear the music before the song is over.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long as I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth,
Then took the other as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim;
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet, knowing how way leads onto way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh,
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
- Robert Frost
