Foster care me be used as a resort to keep children safe when their home is no longer a place where they can safely live. However, it is commonly used as one of the last resorts because of the trauma it may cause children. Being taken from their home can leave them feeling unworthy, or like they are the ones who did wrong. There may also me setbacks as the parent may refuse to let their children go into foster care. Oftentimes, children have to move from foster home to foster home, making it difficult for them to establish a sense of home and belonging.Â
That being said, it can be used to keep children safe from harm.
