How to Look for the Signs
Notice behavioral differences? If your child has become distant, closed-off, or has had any other behavioral/mood changes, talk to them. There could be something happening to them that is affecting their emotional state of wellbeing!
Are there physical signs? If your child is coming home bruised, then you should speak to them about what might be happening to them that is causing them physical harm!
Listen to their conversations! While it is important to gain their trust and give children their privacy, it is also important that we notice what their conversations surround. Any use of language that may suggest they are being mistreated may suggest they are receiving that mistreatment.
Monitor their social media/internet usage! Again, their privacy is important, just make sure they aren't in potential risks of meeting/interacting with predators and inappropriate content!
