Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (Originally enacted in 1974 and has been most recently amended in 2019)- Meant to provide funding to help states better support child neglect and abuse programs.
The Family First Prevention Services Act (2018)- The purpose of this act is to keep children in their homes to prevent the trauma that may come from being removed from them. It gives parents more access to counseling and mental health services.
The Preventing Sex Trafficking and Strengthening Families Act (2014)- Provides support in identifying children at risk of being trafficked and children in the foster care system that have runaway.
The Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act (2008)- Helps children in the foster care system find forever homes, helps them find health care, and supports their educational success.
The Indian Child Welfare Act (1978)- Made to protect Native American children stay in their homes and tribes. It focuses on keeping children within their tribes or with relatives when they need to move from their current homes.
Child Welfare Act (1947)- Made to protect children who have been neglected and abused, to provide support for children who have had to be moved from their guardian’s homes.
Child Protection Act (1984)- Protects children from child pornography by fining large sums and crime convictions to those who distribute or make child pornography.
