Who We Are
The Charlestown Society is a local chapter of the National Society of the Children of the American Revolution (N.S.C.A.R.). We are a youth-led organization dedicated to honoring our revolutionary ancestors, preserving American history, and developing the leaders of tomorrow.
Our membership brings together young people—from birth up to age 22—who share a direct lineage to the patriots who fought for or aided the cause of American independence. Supported by adult Senior Leaders from local DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and SAR (Sons of the American Revolution) chapters, our youth members run their own meetings, organize service events, and gain real-world leadership experience.
Our Mission & Objectives
We strictly align with the core pillars established by our national organization:
Patriotic Service: We honor our veterans, participate in community parades, and respect the symbols of our freedom.
📜 Historical Preservation: We study the history of the American Revolution and help preserve local historical landmarks and graves.
🎓 Leadership Development: Our youth hold offices, manage committees, and learn public speaking and parliamentary procedure.
Living in an area so deeply connected to the founding of our nation, the Charlestown Society takes pride in exploring and protecting our unique local history. From the early colonial days to the critical battles fought on our soil, our members actively learn about the events that shaped our country. We organize field trips to historic sites, participate in commemorative ceremonies, and bring the stories of local Revolutionary War patriots to life for a new generation.
What We Do
Every year, our calendar is filled with hands-on activities, service campaigns, and educational programs:
Organizing care packages and letters for active-duty military and local veterans.
Conducting historical site cleanups and laying wreaths at patriot gravesites.
Gathering for fun, educational business meetings and historic social events.
Traveling to state and national C.A.R. conferences to meet other young patriots from across the country.
