Auditions for placement on one of our competitive companies will be in person at Chara over the course of two days.
Audition Fee: $25
If you make it to Callbacks, that means you made it past the first round of auditions.
Call backs will be Saturday, May 16th 10am
Black leotard
Tan tights and black dance shorts OR black leggings
Jazz shoes
Hair in a bun
Light makeup is recommended
No jewelry (stud earrings are okay)
Dancers will need to be present on Friday, May 8th to learn the audition choreography. They will then come on Tuesday, May 12th to conduct the audition and show the choreography they learned
Dancers will be asked to execute the audition choreography they learned on May 8th in front of the judges. Dancers who are selected to move on to the next round will attend call backs at 10 am where they will learn a new piece of choreography and show anything else the judges need to see.
Auditions are fun and friendly! Every dancer will be encouraged to do their best and to enjoy the experience.

Not everyone who auditions will be ready for our Competitive Companies. Some dancers audition several years before being ready. There is something to be learned from any audition, regardless of the outcome. We are preparing dancers for real-world experiences. We encourage dancers who are not selected to keep dancing and try again next season!
We will audition in four different groups based on the jazz-level dancers are currently enrolled in:

If you make it to Callbacks, that means you made it past the first round of auditions.
The dancers will be notified after their audition time slot if they will be coming back for callbacks. We are going to ask the dancers to leave the building and we will post their audition number and name on the company website 15 - 30 minutes after their audition concludes. Dancers will learn a new combo during this time and perform that combo for the judges.
OPTIONAL AUDITION PREP DAY | $20/class
Dancers have the option to attend prep class to work on skills they may see during the audition. Dancers are required to attend class on Friday, May 10th where they will learn choreography needed for auditions.

PRIVATE LESSONS
We encourage dancers take as much time as possible to adequately prepare for auditions by reviewing this skill list and taking time to set up some private lessons to hone in on those skills.
