Travel

Nothing is of permanence but fluidity is the constant.

The islands within the Seto Island Sea such as Naoshima and Teshima showcase a different side of Japan. Naoshima presents contemporary art such as the famous Yayoi Kusama's Yellow Pumpkin.

Teshima Art Museum is where one experiences art in a moving form. The museum, which resembles a water droplet at the moment of landing, is located in the corner of a rice terrace that was restored in collaboration with local residents. ‘Live’ art combining natural air, sound, light where the water springs from the ground through numerous puncture holes, and thus form various moving water art depending on the natural elements. The art is never the same as there are water droplets forming out from the various holes on the floor and it is up to each individual to see and sense the art.

This travel itinerary attracted great traction amongst my followers.

Gastronomy

Food is both an art and science.

Preludio is a contemporary dining concept that moves with time in orchestrated chapters.

Preludio opened with its first chapter “Monochrome” in November 2018, where the food, beverage and art are stripped down to its fundamental self – everything raw and everything pure.

"Time"is its second chapter, where the restaurant’s offerings are expressed through the many aspects of time – be it about a moment, an age, a journey or passage; even exploring ancestry and lineage. The photo nicely encapsulates the concept of TIME in this first course presentation. What is interesting is how the element of time is presented through the processing of the different flavours into a different form from its original.

Architecture

Architects blend the beauty of art and science into one.

A couple of luxury brands are creating artistic, unique landmarks in various cities, with Louis Vuitton Maison Osaka Midosuji being one of the newest.

Osaka is known as City of Water where interwinding rivers and canals flow into, with ships sailing into the port where trade happens. As a tribute to its history, referencing sails as an obvious design metaphor becomes appropriate. The building façades is entirely covered by sails using 2D curved glass panels.

In addition to beinga retail store, there is a roof top Le Cafe V cocooned within the sails of the building, where shoppers can rest their feet and enjoy a fine dining experience.
