Insomnium is a game created by a group called 'Game, Sweat and Tears' which consists of six game development students. It's a 2D side-scrolling puzzle game where Ren Takahashi, a young photographer, uncovers the truth behind his sister Aiko's death through his dream.

Theme
This term in my first group project we've been given a theme to follow which was 'Blood, Sweat and Tears'. Each division in our group was also given their own themes. Art: Stylized-Hand Painted Style, Design: Impact and Tech: Crafting System.
Process Thinking
This game has been through a rollercoaster of emotions and obstacles. To further explain, we had our first few proposals rejected and readjusted. This delayed production and since we were running on a deadline by the end of semester, everything was rushed and buggy.
As the narrative designer, everything was riding on me to make sure the story tied together with the game. To tell the story we decided to go with a visual novel style. I'd written a script and storyboard for the team to refer and look at, as well as recorded the voice audios to give our characters life. The execution to make the story much more impactful was a bit disappointing because we only had one tech, and I had to make do with what little time and manpower we had.
I also played a role in designing the puzzle for one level. The main thought process I had was to make sure it was neither difficult or easy. I also made sure that the puzzles made sense when combining items. I could've communicated to my team to make item highlights to be more helpful for players but we were already chasing the deadline.
Conclusion
Lots of thoughts went through my mind as I look back at this after submitting it on the deadline. There were many ideas thought of that could've been executed or implemented better or even communicated better to the team. I aim to learn from my mistakes and do better in my next challenge, the next project in the following term.
