Scrolling through 2024's camera rolls, we found a few photos of ourselves accompanied by a bounty of outdoor adventures. If you make it to the bottom, this year's summary features two new sections of bonus content: 1) walking in nature and 2) funny animals.
JANUARY: As we enter early middle age, our social calendar is mostly limited to supporting local non-profits. Fancy events force Kyle to properly shave at least five or six times per year.
FEBRUARY: February is a fantastic time to visit Katie's dad in Arizona.
MARCH: This 24-hour photo series nicely summarizes March at 824 LWE. Q: What's worse than having the house all torn up for construction? A: Having the house all torn up for restoration.
April: Though the house remained a mess, the yard came alive in April.
MAY: Not even halfway through the year and he has already shaved at least twice!
JUNE: Blueberry season arrived early in 2024! Our freezer is stocked for winter, with just shy of 40 pounds picked.
JULY: We celebrated Kyle's birthday (of an unspeakable milestone) with classical music and hiking Rocky Mountain National Park.
AUGUST: The first weekend brought the joy of spending time with old friends in Kansas City. Kyle then spent just about every remaining day of the month fighting with the world's heaviest centrifugal pump.
SEPTEMBER: We traveled to Washington D.C. to celebrate Morris Animal Hospital's recognition as a finalist for the American Animal Hospital Association's Accredited Practice of the Year. Katie has worked at Morris for fifteen years and served as its practice manager since 2013. As the Hospital's accreditation guru, she was instrumental in Morris being recognized in the final four of all practices in the nation.
Kyle got to look at old planes.
OCTOBER: Life is better with friends, whether helping you overcome the apple orchard's ladder prohibition or keeping you company at dinner.
NOVEMBER: A better-than-anticipated football season brought unexpected opportunities for fellowship.
DECEMBER: Eight months later, we put finishing touches on the family room restoration just in time to bring home the perfect Christmas tree.

A brisk romp at Potato Creek State Park can melt away the winter blues.
But hiking can be exhausting!

April 2024 was the month of wayward turtles.
It's tough to beat Notre Dame's campus on a sunny May evening.

It remains unclear what brought this friendly ferret out to Central Park in Mishawaka.
Some months, the nature comes to us.
Kyle has befriended a neighbor, who frequently stops by the home office window for belly scratches on the way back from his morning adventures.
Though September's trek was of a more urban variety, we did spot a fox running through the Korean War Memorial.

October's beautiful weather gave Teddy a chance to pick out his own pumpkin ...
Immediately after this photo was captured, one of these two spit all over the other. We will let the reader decide which was which.
November's trek was through the vast expanse of the tree farm. Kyle insists on surveying the entire premises before sawing to ensure we have selected the finest specimen.
... which ultimately led to Teddy's frenemy Sammy the Squirrel getting obese for winter.
For our final hike of the year, we explored Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Moana took quite a shine to Kyle ... or maybe it was just his shoelaces.
