"Registration Guide"

Welcome to ChallengeUSA!!!

We are excited to have your team on board. Below you will find some basic steps broken down as to how to get involved in Supermileage or Electrathon through ChallengeUSA. Feel free to reach out to Lauri Domer (Executive Director) if you need more assistance at any time. Email: CusaMotorsports@gmail.com

- - - - - - - STEP 1: Affiliation - - - - - - -

Affiliation Form & Fee. see Forms -> Affiliation and download that pdf.

All Supermileage and Electrathon teams participating in ChallengeUSA Sanctioned Events are required to affiliate with ChallengeUSA in order to receive any benefits of the association.

NOTE: 1st year teams - affiliation fee is waived - just send in form with a note you are 1st year and no fee required.

- - - - - - - STEP 2: Build your Car - - - - - - -

This is no small task :) Our network of teams and advisors and Board of Directors are ready to help. Your first stop might be to download the rules for Electrathon and/or Supermileage on this website. You might (as an advisor) attend an Advisor Workshop through ChallengeUSA or a session at the annual WTEA conference in March.

- - - - - - - STEP 3: Event Registration Forms & Fees - - - - - - -

Event Registration Form & Fees.

This form provides payment for each vehicle your team is registering at each event. This FORM allows CUSA the ability to plan for the events ahead of time and pack or order the needed supplies in time. This FEE allows CUSA to pay for the needs of each event. These costs range from; track rentals, staffing, mileage/fuel, meals for various volunteers, and more. The late fee is to encourage teams to register ahead of the events - please note most of our Board of Directors and Event Coordinators are teachers just like you and we need this time to properly complete all these tasks.

Administrator & Insurance Certificate Form.

This form is required by CUSA providing an understanding by your School District of your participation at events - as well as the required "Insurance Certificates" by the various challenge sites in the MidWest.

NOTE: Insurance Certificates... CUSA gets many questions about the Insurance Certificates for the various events. These can be requested by your Director of Business Services in your school district (title varies among schools). Page 3 of the Admin form provides an example with details of this Insurance Certificate.

Student Permission Form (CUSA)

This form is required by ALL student participants at CUSA events. This is a ChallengeUSA form.

Driver Permission Form (CUSA)

This NOTARIZED form is required by all students that will/might DRIVE an Electrathon or Supermileage vehicle at a CUSA event. This is a notarized form to gaurantee there is parent/gaurdian permission for the student to drive. Students need to be in 6th grade or higher and must be a member of the local ChallengeUSA affiliated team in order to be eligible to drive.

Track Waivers (Varies)

Some of the events that ChallengeUSA participates in (such as Road America) require every attendee of their track to have a seperate "Track Waiver" per their Insurance Carrier. These are loaded on our website when we get them from the tracks - though some times this is short notice as it is our of our control. These MUST be completed by students and adults attending and brought to the track gate when you arrive. DO NOT send these ahead of time to CUSA.

- - - - - - - STEP 4: Finalize travel plans - - - - - - -

Most participating teams for ChallengeUSA events need to stay overnight at these events. This requires school permission slips for students, chaperones and vehicles arranged to attend the event, hotels reserved and paid for, food arrangements made for the team while at the event and more...

NOTE: Chaperones at events with your team are VERY IMPORTANT for many reasons beyond just getting your team to and from the event. Chaperones can be a great assett to observing your students and keeping SAFETY as a priority in the pits and on the track with your students. At events - each team is also REQUIRED to volunteer some time to assist in running the event, so either you as advisor or your chaperone will need to volunteer a few hours during the day. Chaperones are also important in the rare case of an emergency, this extra adult allows you as advisor to deal with such a situation while the rest of your team is being cared for. PLEASE bring chaperones to the events with your team!!!!!!

- - - - - - - STEP 5: Competition Day - - - - - - -

The Trailer is packed!!! The chaperons vehicles or bus is loaded with students. The event is upon you. Event Schedules are on this website - print them out and post with chaperones and in your trailer. Ensure students have proper clothing (drivers extra clothing requirements in the rules). Events have had snow, rain, and 100+ degree days!!! The BIGGEST help we can maybe give for competition day - use your neighboring pit teams to lean on and ask lots of questions... Each team is here to win - BUT we all want to win fairly by helping our competition to do their best!!! Most teams will loan you advice, tools, and event spare parts (motors, wheels, batteries, etc) if that is what it takes some times...
