Though not dues-paying members of the CHNLA, hundreds of geese call the Cherry Hills Ninth Lake their home for at least part of the year. While our residents may enjoy watching these beautiful birds in their natural habitat, the majority of homeowers find them obtrusive, primarily because of the excrement they leave on our lawns.

Whereas it is illegal to harm geese, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources has issued a permit to our Association that allows any member to depredate their eggs and/or destroy their nests. These measures are considered only as a last resort if passive harassment methods are ineffective for relocating geese to neighboring lakes to incubate their clutches. Any such actions should be reported to Dan Abrams at dan.abrams@icloud.com for recording to IDNR.
