While several of the projects we do in Sustainable Systems are carefully thought out to be as cost efficient as possible, some things require a little extra money help to get them done. On this page, we will catalogue the different fundraisers we put on, as well as the big donations we get from people and businesses around the valley!
Donations / Grants:
Some of the projects in Sustainable Systems are large enough that it would be impossible to complete them without help from generous people and businesses. This page is a massive thank you to them for allowing us to keep doing what we are doing!
The Flathead Conservation District has been incredibly generous and awarded us two separate grants to establish our Tower Garden growing project which we have set up in the CFHS cafeteria. Flathead Conservation District also holds the title for our first donors! We use these gardens to supplement food for our school lunches, freshly grown and as local as can be! Not only do these gardens provide the school with fresh greens, but they also brighten up the lunchroom considerably. This sustainable system of growing uses less space, less water, less soil, and allows us to grow food throughout the entire year! The addition of these compact and sustainable gardens would not be possible if not for the Flathead Conservation District. Thank you!
Fundraisers:
Most of the money in Sustainable Systems comes from fundraising. Here we will post fundraisers we have done in the past, as well as ones that we are planning on doing in the near future.
For the last few years, the Conservation Crew has raised awareness for Earth Day at the high school by selling different items and promoting environmental protection. We usually sell themed treats, reusable cutlery, and succulents.
During the 2021-2022 school year we collected used shoes of all kind. With over 30 pairs collected, a wide range of shoes and boots will be going to a local organization where they will get a second life rather than going to the landfill.
