This workshop focuses on the relationship between Creative Writing (CW), New Media, and English Language Teaching (ELT). The workshop is designed to help ELT teachers incorporate creative writing and new media (such as the Internet) in their teaching practices to enhance their students' language development. The workshop explores the potential benefits of CW in ELT and highlights the role of ELT teachers as content creators. The workshop also highlights the theoretical considerations behind the integration of CW and ELT such as the Monitor Model, Output/Noticing Hypotheses, Language Learning Strategies, and Deeper Cognitive Engagement.
The workshop also explores the integration of new media in ELT and how it can be used to enhance students' language learning experiences. The impact of social media discourses on students' language development and the availability of new technologies for ELT are also discussed.
Finally, the workshop explores the use of rap in ELT and how it can be used as a tool for promoting English language learning. The workshop highlights the results of a study conducted by Thadphoothon (2017) on the impact of rapping activities on English language learning. The study showed that students enjoyed the rapping activity and found it helpful in their language development. The study also showed that the students developed a sense of English rhythms through the rapping activity.
