Welcome to the Central Summit Watershed FireWise Community. The community was formed in 2023 with a commitment by the Summit Watershed Protection League (SWPL) to shift its initial emphasis from fighting proposed commercial logging operations in the Villa Del Monte community to raising funds to support community wildfire safety objectives. The SWPL kicked off these efforts by providing chipping programs to support wildfire fuel-clearing activities for all residents, funded by donations, fundraising events, and matching-funds programs from the Santa Clara County Fire Safe Council. The Central Summit community has been amazing at clearing their properties and making our community much more resilient to the possible ravages of wildfire.
Please donate periodically to the SWPL. Without generous donations, we can't keep our chipping program and special wildfire mitigation projects funded. 100% of donations are tax-deductible, the SWPL is a 501(c)3) nonprofit (Tax ID: EIN #31-1575165).
In 2023, we begin the progress of gaining FireWise-USA Recognition for our community. We intend to achieve national FireWise-USA Recognition and continue to expand awareness and community action toward continuous improvement in wildfire resiliency. Additionally, the community is also interested in increasing awareness and action on other natural and unnatural hazards that threaten our properties and community; including erosion, storm drainage, slope stability, and other property management issues.
Our FireWise community straddles both Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties. Here are our new boundaries for 2025.
