Our current 3-year Firewise Plan includes working to achieve 100% resident participation in becoming a wildfire-adapted community. The scope of the plan involves reducing vulnerabilities discovered during our initial risk assessment by Santa Clara Fire and the community property survey data we collected during our Firewise application process. One goal of the plan is to encourage every resident to make their home and surrounding property as resilient to wildfire as possible. If we all work towards this goal, we will protect our investments and the investments of all members of our Central Summit Watershed Firewise community. Understanding the principles of defensible space and home hardening is the first step.
Below are links to information that will quickly get you up to speed on preparing your home and property for wildfire. Keep in mind that this is a process of continuous improvement. Start with the simple but higher-priority vulnerabilities, and work out from your doors and windows to the forest.
