SWPL is currently accepting donations to support Villa Del Monte residents in their efforts to prepare their homes against wildfires this season. Our initial emphasis is on funding chipping services for residents interested in reducing their exposure to wildfires by clearing brush, trimming trees, and creating fire-safe zones around their homes and outbuildings.
We are participating again this year in the Santa Clara County FireSafe Council's matching grant program, up to $5,000. If we can raise $10,000 as a community, we could potentially have up to $15,000 of fire-prevention work done in our neighborhood. The scope of the work covered by the matching grant includes chipping, roadside mowing, clearing, and other tree work that would make our neighborhood more fire resilient and better prepared for the current fire season.
We have received approval on our grant application to proceed with our chipping program for 2024. We have raised $3756 so far this year, thanks to the generous contributions of our neighbors. If we can get additional donations, we will be able to cover the cost of our second neighborhood chipping program this year, which is being scheduled for September.
The money that we raised last year was augmented by corporate matching funds. Many companies, including Apple, Oracle and Google to name a few, offer matching employee donations for non profits such as ours. We encourage you take advantage of these programs to help us attain our goal.
If you would like to contribute to our fund to help make our neighborhood more fire-resilient, click on the donate button below or make a check out to Summit Watershed Protection League (or SWPL), and mail it to P.O. Box 334, Redwood Estates, CA 95044-0334. You will receive a letter acknowledging your tax-deductible donation to our 501(c)3 via email.
100% of donations are tax-deductible, we are a 501(c)3 non profit (our Tax ID is EIN #31-1575165).
